Mole Check
up to 30 minutes - $180
(Dermoscopy)
During this appointment your skin will be checked top to bottom for melanoma and other types of skin cancer. If any concerning lesions are found a plan will be made straight away for further diagnosis and treatment.
Biopsy - 30 minutes - $200
To determine the type of skin cancer or in case a diagnosis cannot be made a biopsy is often taken. After disinfection a small injection is given to numb the relevant area and usually a 3 or 4 mm sample will be taken. Because the sample is so small sutures are not usually required. The sample is then sent off to LabTests for microscopic analysis which may take 2-3 weeks. You will always be advised of the result.
Skin Surgery - 45 minutes - $550
Cysts, lipoma and confirmed skin cancer are often surgically removed. After disinfection the site is marked and injections are given to numb the relevant area. The lesion is then removed using a scalpel in a sterile environment. Different suture techniques are used to close the skin afterwards. Sometimes dissolvable sutures can be used but often you will have to return to the practice nurse at a later stage for suture removal (any appointments related to the surgery are included in the price). The sample is then sent off to LabTests for microscopic analysis which may take 2-3 weeks. You will always be advised of the result.
Ingrown Toenail Surgery - 45 minutes - $600
(Partial Nail Avulsion)
When a toenail grows in it can cause an ongoing inflammation with redness, pain and discharge. Sometimes surgery is required to remove this part of the nail. The nurse will assist during this procedure. To numb the entire toe two injections are given at the base of the toe. Once the toe has gone numb part of the nail is removed from where it is growing in all the way to the base. A chemical is then used to prevent this part of the nail growing back. If all goes well the toenail will forever be a bit slimmer and not grow back. Occasionally the chemical does not reach all the the cells that produce the nail and the nail can grow back.
Other Minor Cosmetic Procedures - 30 minutes
The removal of skin tags, milia, warts and other minor skin lesions can be treated in a variety of ways. The price and the equipment used will depend on the lesion and will be discussed during your appointment.
